About the therapist
My name is Aleks Mladenović, and I am a psychologist with a Master’s degree and a certified RE&CBT psychotherapist. I completed both my Bachelor’s and Master’s studies in Psychology at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Belgrade, and my psychotherapy training at the Serbian Center for RE&CBT. I am a member of the Serbian Psychological Society and the Union of Psychotherapy Associations of Serbia. In addition to my core training, I have completed further education in mindfulness, as well as various workshops and trainings for working with specific psychological difficulties, including work with LGBTQ+ clients.
In my work, I primarily rely on the principles of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), while integrating approaches such as DBT, ACT, and ERP depending on the client’s needs. The therapeutic process is structured and goal-oriented, but always tailored to each individual.
I work with adolescents, young adults, and adults who struggle with anxiety, panic attacks, fears, intrusive thoughts, OCD symptoms, depressive mood, feelings of guilt or anger, low self-esteem, as well as difficulties in relationships and everyday functioning. In practice, this often involves working with people who feel “stuck” in overthinking, self-doubt, emotional overwhelm, or avoidance, which interferes with daily functioning and decision-making. I also work with clients dealing with loss, grief, health-related challenges, as well as broader existential concerns such as meaning, uncertainty, and mortality. In addition, I support people going through major life transitions, such as moving to another country, adapting to life abroad, or living as expats or digital nomads.
In therapy, we focus on practical changes—reducing overthinking and avoidance, building emotional stability, and developing skills such as decision-making, assertive communication, time management, and more effective coping with stress.
I have particular experience working with OCD and anxiety, using Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), an evidence-based approach that helps reduce the impact of intrusive thoughts and compulsive patterns.
In my work, I aim to create a warm, supportive, and non-judgmental environment where clients feel safe to explore their experiences and work toward meaningful change.
In addition to psychotherapy, I also help clients with organizing, planning, and structuring their daily tasks and responsibilities, so they can reduce overwhelm and achieve their goals more effectively.
